AI Thread Summary
Jean's creation refers to James Jeans' steady state theory of cosmology, which posits a continuous creation of matter in the universe. This theory emerged in 1928 and was significant in early British cosmology, alongside contributions from Arthur Eddington. However, it was largely dismissed following the discovery of the cosmic microwave background in 1965, which supported the Big Bang theory instead. The discussion highlights the historical context and evolution of cosmological theories. Understanding Jean's creation provides insight into the development of modern astrophysics.

Hi Mabs! Welcome to PF!

looks like James Jeans' steady state theory of creation, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Jeans#Background
Jeans, along with Arthur Eddington, is a founder of British cosmology. In 1928 Jeans was the first to conjecture a steady state cosmology based on a hypothesized continuous creation of matter in the universe.[6] This theory was ruled out when the 1965 discovery of the cosmic microwave background was widely interpreted as the tell-tale signature of the Big Bang.

thanks tim thank you very much. you are a genius. you probably helped to earn some marks for us in our next astronomy quiz.:!) hehe thank you very much.

Is a homemade radio telescope realistic? There seems to be a confluence of multiple technologies that makes the situation better than when I was a wee lad: software-defined radio (SDR), the easy availability of satellite dishes, surveillance drives, and fast CPUs. Let's take a step back - it is trivial to see the sun in radio. An old analog TV, a set of "rabbit ears" antenna, and you're good to go. Point the antenna at the sun (i.e. the ears are perpendicular to it) and there is...

Your posts, clips and photos may by all means include scientific information; that does not make it less beautiful to me (n.b. the posts must of course comply with the PF guidelines, i.e. regarding science, only mainstream science is allowed, fringe/pseudoscience is not allowed). n.b.
