SUMMARY

Swarm intelligence is a concept primarily associated with artificial life (ALife) and evolutionary algorithms involving multiple agents. It refers to the collective behavior of decentralized, self-organized systems, often observed in nature, such as in ant colonies or bird flocks. The discussion highlights the importance of understanding swarm intelligence for applications in fields like robotics and optimization. For a comprehensive definition, the Wikipedia page on swarm intelligence serves as a valuable resource.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of artificial life (ALife)
  • Familiarity with evolutionary algorithms
  • Knowledge of multi-agent systems
  • Basic concepts of decentralized systems
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of swarm intelligence in robotics
  • Explore evolutionary algorithms in depth
  • Study multi-agent system design and implementation
  • Investigate real-world applications of swarm intelligence

ddidn't know if thsi topic should be under software or mind/brain sciences.
Its about ALife.

Was wondering if anyone knew the definition of this topic? I was reading a profs website and one of their interest was swarm intelligence. Not really sure what it entails and if anyone could help me, much thanks. I think it has something to do with evolutionary algorithms on multi agents but not sure.
