What is the geometric property of these 2 angles being equal?

SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the geometric property that states the sum of angles in a triangle equals 180 degrees. Specifically, the woman references the complementary angle property, where two angles add up to 90 degrees. The example provided illustrates how to calculate the unknown angle using the equation a + θ = 90, leading to the conclusion that θ equals 23.5 degrees when a is 66.5 degrees.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic trigonometric concepts
  • Familiarity with triangle properties
  • Knowledge of complementary angles
  • Ability to solve simple algebraic equations
NEXT STEPS
  • Study the properties of triangles in Euclidean geometry
  • Learn about complementary and supplementary angles
  • Explore trigonometric functions and their applications
  • Practice solving angle problems using algebra
USEFUL FOR

Students of geometry, educators teaching trigonometry, and anyone interested in understanding angle relationships in triangles.

At time 2:20, the woman says, "Using trigonometry, we know that this angle is the same as this angle."

Which trigonometry or geometry property is she referring to that is needed in order to determine those two angles are equal? Is there a name for it? I don't have a geometry book, but I am interested in learning about it. Any information would be helpful.

Thank you.

The sum of the angles in a triangle is 180. a+23.5+90=180 a=66.5
Then a+θ=90 66.5+θ=90 θ=23.5

ah, thanks
