What is the meaning of sine squared in mathematical calculations?

I have a problem were i must calculate sine^2(45)*cos^2(45)

sine^2(45) would mean you take the sine of 45 degrees and then you square that value.

sine(45) = 1/\sqrt{2}
sine^2(45) = (1/\sqrt{2})^2 = .5

ok, thanks is the same as sine^2(45)*sine^2(45). :-)
