Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around the availability of free versions of the PSpice program, a software used for circuit simulation. Participants explore options for obtaining PSpice or alternatives, including evaluation versions and other software.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant inquires about where to find a free version of PSpice online.
  • Another participant asserts that PSpice is not available for free but suggests LTSpice as a free alternative.
  • A participant provides a URL for a free evaluation version of PSpice 8, noting its limitations on the number of components but stating it is sufficient for most designs.
  • A similar URL for the free evaluation version of PSpice 8 is repeated by another participant, emphasizing its adequacy for design purposes.
  • One participant mentions a downloadable demo of PSpice available on the official website, indicating it should meet user needs, while noting a difficulty accessing the URL.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants present multiple views on the availability of PSpice, with some suggesting alternatives and others providing links to evaluation versions. No consensus is reached regarding the best option for obtaining PSpice.

Contextual Notes

Some claims depend on the specific version of PSpice discussed, and limitations of the evaluation versions are noted but not resolved.

Here is the URL for the free evaluation version for Pspice 8. It's the one I like best. It limits the number of components you can have but I've found it adequate for most of my designs.

There's a downloadable demo of PSpice which is free on the official software website. It should contain everything you need. PSpice is under Orcad now, by the way. I couldn't get the URL to work.
