SUMMARY

The recommended academic books for beginners in quantum physics are "Introduction to Quantum Mechanics" by David J. Griffiths, "Principles of Quantum Mechanics" by R. Shankar, and "Modern Quantum Mechanics" by J. J. Sakurai. These texts provide comprehensive coverage of fundamental concepts and detailed explanations of equations, addressing the shortcomings of simpler guides. Starting with Griffiths' book is advised for a solid foundation before progressing to the more advanced texts by Shankar and Sakurai.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of classical mechanics
  • Familiarity with linear algebra
  • Knowledge of calculus
  • Introductory physics concepts
NEXT STEPS
  • Read "Introduction to Quantum Mechanics" by David J. Griffiths
  • Study "Principles of Quantum Mechanics" by R. Shankar
  • Explore "Modern Quantum Mechanics" by J. J. Sakurai
  • Research quantum mechanics problem-solving techniques

Can anyone recommend a beginners book on QP that is academic in nature? I've just about finished Quantum Physics: a beginners guide. I found that it skimmed a lot information and the equations were not fully explained.

Thanks :)
