Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around identifying the PhD students of Albert Einstein, exploring whether he had any doctoral students and the significance of his mentorship. The scope includes historical context and the accuracy of available information.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant asserts that Einstein did not have any doctoral students.
  • Another participant expresses doubt about this claim, suggesting that Einstein must have had some students.
  • A participant questions the reliability of sources like Wikipedia, noting that it lists many individuals with PhD students, implying that Einstein's contributions would warrant a similar acknowledgment.
  • There is a mention of a potential student from Iran or India, with a request for clarification on whether Einstein had any prominent students or advisory roles, not limited to PhD candidates.
  • A link to a genealogy site is provided, which claims to have comprehensive information on the topic.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants disagree on whether Einstein had any PhD students, with some asserting he did not and others suggesting he may have had at least one or served in an advisory capacity.

Contextual Notes

There are limitations regarding the completeness and reliability of sources cited, as well as the definitions of what constitutes a PhD student versus an advisory role.

Can anyone name all the people who did their phd under Albert einstein (there may be three or four but i don't know those scientists names)

Science news on Phys.org
Sure. I already have. He didn't have any doctoral students.

Are you sure?... I heard that he "DID" had, not many but he did...

Anyone else know their names? Please reply...I just want their names

Not that I'm saying Wikipedia is always correct or complete, but if you'll notice, there are many people of much less importance than Einstein with their PhD students listed. They even list his name as one of this guy's PhD students. Although possible, I think it it very unlikely that he would be listed as the student of another, before having his own students lists, given the importance of his contributions to his field.

Deepak Kapur... is that you? Anyway, TylerH isn't joking... he's absolutely correct. Where did you "hear" that he did?

I heard he had one from Iran, India or some other asian region, If not phd student then how about advisory? how about prominent student in general (not necessary phd)...I read few names but do not remember from where...just asking for help here
