Why named it parametric amplifier?

Click For Summary
The term "parametric amplifier" refers to a high-frequency amplifier that operates by varying a parameter, such as reactance, to amplify an input signal. This amplification occurs when a nonlinear material is pumped by an oscillator, allowing it to convert energy from one frequency to another effectively. The discussion highlights the connection between optical parametric amplifiers and RF parametric amplifiers. The original poster sought clarification on the naming convention and received insights about the underlying principles of operation. Understanding these principles is crucial for grasping the functionality of optical parametric amplifiers.

Hello
I have a seminar for my Optic Course in university with this title : Optical Parametric Amplifiers.

I searched a lot but I couldn't find why its name "Parametric Amp" I think its about RF parametric amp..

Please if you know why named "parametric" share your knowledge with me.

Thanks for advance

I googled "define parametric amplifier" and got this.

Definition of parametric amplifier. : a high-frequency amplifier whose operation is based on time variations in a parameter (such as reactance) and which converts the energy at the frequency of an alternating current into energy at the input signal frequency in such a way as to amplify the signal.

Didn't you do that before posting your question?

Thread 'I thought it was only Amazon that sold unsafe junk'
I grabbed an under cabinet LED light today at a big box store. Nothing special. 18 inches in length and made to plug several lights together. Here is a pic of the power cord: The drawing on the box led me to believe that it would accept a standard IEC cord which surprised me. But it's a variation of it. I didn't try it, but I would assume you could plug a standard IEC cord into this and have a double male cord AKA suicide cord. And to boot, it's likely going to reverse the hot and...
