SUMMARY

The forum discussion centers on a window washer who survived a fall from 47 floors, prompting an analysis of the physics involved in such an event. The original poster, Raelene, invites feedback on their calculations regarding the survivability of the fall, which includes considerations of acceleration and impact forces. A specific mention of "10g" acceleration is made, indicating a focus on the physics of deceleration and the forces experienced during the fall. The discussion encourages peer review and collaborative analysis of the scenario presented in the video.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of physics, particularly kinematics and dynamics.
  • Familiarity with concepts of acceleration and gravitational forces.
  • Knowledge of impact force calculations.
  • Ability to analyze video content for physical phenomena.
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the effects of high-impact falls on the human body.
  • Learn about the physics of free fall and terminal velocity.
  • Explore advanced kinematic equations for calculating impact forces.
  • Investigate real-life survival stories from extreme falls and the physics behind them.
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for physics students, educators, and anyone interested in the application of physics to real-world scenarios, particularly in analyzing extreme survival situations.

HI ALL!

Recently in class, we were assigned to find a video that presented an impossible situation and we had to calculate if the situation was even possible. My video was about a window washer that plunged 47 Floors. I've posted my calculations and information on it on my page!

If any of you are interested, please take a look and comment on my page!
It'd be nice if you guys would make suggestions on any part of my analysis or any comment at all. If I've made any mistakes or wrong assumptions that had made the problem too simple please do point it out!

Help is greatly appreciated! :)
Thank you! :smile::wink:

Welcome to PF, piggyxchu!

Suppose the acceleration at the end is indeed 10g.
What would the distance be to stop over this distance?
