Homework Statement


A double slit is illuminated by a light source. Which of the following are true about the image projected on the screen behind the slits?


Homework Equations


1. A solid band of light will appear on the screen because constructive interference occurs everywhere.
2. The screen will be dark because constructive interference cannot occur anywhere.
3. Dark lines will appear at points where there is destructive interference.
4. A single bright line will appear on the screen.
5. only two bright lines will appear on the screen

1 is true. rest are false.

am i correct? Can someone please help me? thanks!

No, I don't think you're understanding double slit interference. Reread the relevant parts of your textbook; unless your textbook is really bad, I'm sure there will be a picture of the interference pattern.
 
Thanks, I was actually able to figure it out. Only 3 is true.
