Every now and then in Japan someone who was serving me would say "Hai!" over and over again. It literally means "yes" but I think it really meant "I am serving you with enthusiasm." J people are big on enthusiasm. Here's an example that was captured on television. I don't have the patience to count the number of "Hai!s", I'd guess around fifty.

@nsaspook, I still remember the video of Japanese pop-up bar/restaraunt that you posted a few years ago. I really enjoyed watching that one and wish I had bookmarked it.
