Android robotics, quantum physics lab
Thanks Greg, I'd forgotten I posted this. I am just trying to generate interest in the project really. It could be so much much better if we had the money, so progress is not as fast as I'd like but it is moving forward which is the main thing. This lab is intended to be an interactive online...- juzzy

Graduate The Higgs Mass and the Many worlds interpretation
My question was about many-worlds, though as you say Bill, they are not quite the same thing, so I guess it's not relevant. Thanks- juzzy

Graduate The Higgs Mass and the Many worlds interpretation
I was trying to remember where I heard it. It was a documentary which was about the Higgs discovery, I think it was called Particle fever. Good movie, gives a lot of insight. It may well be that I misunderstood or misheard. I should watch it again. I do recommend it though.- juzzy

Graduate The Higgs Mass and the Many worlds interpretation
No I haven't heard anything seriously refuting it either, however, the multiverse interpretation in particle physics (which I was assuming is just the same thing as Many-worlds in QM) predicts a Higgs Mass of 140 GeV. The Supersymmetry interpretation predicts 115 GeV. The observed value was...- juzzy

Graduate The Higgs Mass and the Many worlds interpretation
I have a question about the Many worlds interpretation. Does the observed mass of the Higgs boson suggest that the many worlds interpretation is incorrect, as the mass falls smack in the middle of the predicted values of both supersymmetry and multiverse interpretations of the standard model of...- juzzy

Undergrad Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser Question
You can build a simple version of this by putting polarisation filters on the slits at 90 deg to each other. Because you now have a way of knowing which slit the photon came through you get no interference (it acts like a particle). You measure by having another polarisation filter after the...- juzzy

How to Achieve 0-300V 50mA & 50uA in Parallel Circuit
I have a variable voltage constant current power supply 0-300v at 50mA. Is it possible and if so what would be the simplest way to have a parallel circuit with 0-300v 50mA on one side and 0-300v 50uA on the other? A simple resistor isn't going to work because the supply maintains 50mA. Any help...- juzzy

Graduate Is Higgs boson surely a particle?
With all due respect Bill_K I think that quantization means to turn a continuous entity into a discrete entity and wavefunctions are considerd to be continuous entities that evolve smoothly and deterministically in the absence of measurement. Only on measuring the field will it be discretized...- juzzy

Graduate Is Higgs boson surely a particle?
I don't doubt that the field/particle distinction is important but I'm pretty sure that the quantum of the Higgs field is the Higg's boson? Am I making some mistake in thinking that a quantization is the same thing as a quantum is the same thing as an exitation?- juzzy

Graduate Is Higgs boson surely a particle?
It is important to understand that particles are quantizations of fields (fields are particles, particles are fields). And also that we are talking about quantum particles, which are not to be thought of as ordinary classical particles. There is some good introductory level info here about how...- juzzy
