Why Ignore Tension In Pulley and Work Energy Problems?
Thanks for your reply. So I understand that it's more a question of differing orders of magnitude, as opposed to some intrinsic property of pulley systems, say, always performing work functions that equal out to zero, for example.- LickMyEyeball

Why Ignore Tension In Pulley and Work Energy Problems?
A pulley and block system is a favorite type of system for analysis when considering work-energy problems in beginning dynamics. It's commonly recommended that the best approach to the system is to write an equation for the whole system, while ignoring the work done by cables/ropes and focusing...- LickMyEyeball

Interpreting wire type specifications on engineering drawings
I have an electrical drawing which specifies a wired connection as 3# 10+ 3# 12v- Teck symmetrical. What do all these numbers mean?- LickMyEyeball

Design of High-pass Passive Filter
This is really awesome to know! It makes sense, but I'd never be sure enough of how the caps work to actually try it. Thanks!- LickMyEyeball

Design of High-pass Passive Filter
Thank you very much for your reply. I assume that the problem with having selected a 16pF capacitor is that they do not come in a non-polar variety and a signal may require going into negative voltages? Starting with a 1uF capacitor and a 10Hz point for the 3dB frequency yields an equivalent...- LickMyEyeball

Design of High-pass Passive Filter
Homework Statement Design a filter that will pass frequencies greater than 20 Hz and set the -3dB point at 10 Hz. Assume zero source impedance and 10k load impedance. Homework Equations ##f=\frac{1}{2\pi RC}## which is the equation used to determine the 3 dB frequency of an RC filter. The...- LickMyEyeball

Arduino and DC Solid State Relay 'Flicker'
Hi, thank you for your help in advance. I have a circuit configured as shown in this image. I got this arrangement from an earlier thread. An arduino controls a DC solid state relay, and it works fine when my load is a simple LED. The arduino is controlling through a digital output header and...- LickMyEyeball

Help interpreting schematic with relay
Hi, thank you for your help. I am having fun experimenting with an arduino. I have a solid state relay (SSR) which I am learning to use for the first time. I have found things sort of confusing, but have found the following image at the Arduino playground useful: Image here Here is what I have...- LickMyEyeball

What Are the Dimensions of a 6.35 mm x 12 mm Shaft Coupling?
When a coupling is described as being 6.35 mm x 12 mm, what does this mean? I figure that 6.35 mm is the shaft diameter it accepts because that diameter equals 1/4". Is 12 mm the size of shaft the opposing side is designed to attach to? Thank you in advance.- LickMyEyeball

Building a Speaker with a Class AB Amplifier
Hello there! As far as I understand, you are correct that on negative input signal swings, the 'upper' BJT will not conduct, while the 'lower' BJT will conduct. Assuming that the current driving the load is not negligible, where is it coming from? (We will ignore the currents into the...- LickMyEyeball
