Bee Sting Immunity: Developing Tolerance & Immunity Questions
Many years ago I was acutely allergic to bee stings. I was prescribed a "Epi" pen and used it several times. Eventually however, I noticed I had developed a tolerance to bee stings, and no longer carry my epi pen. Rather, I take a couple of Benytril and go on with my day. Does it make medical...- Rolliet

Graduate Are Quantum Physics & Classical Physics incompatible?
when a photon is viewed as a particle does it exhibit mass and gravity? Likewise, when electrons are viewed as a wave does it behave like a photon (i.e.: causing an electron to jump an energy level) ?- Rolliet

Graduate Are Quantum Physics & Classical Physics incompatible?
Is quantum physics closer to the truth than classical physics, or is it just a different way of looking at the same problem? For example, the rules of baseball explain the behavior of baseball players better than the rules of football, and vice versa. The rules of these two sports are not...- Rolliet

Can Alcoholic Beverages Hydrate You?
I'm curious if alcoholic beverages can be used to provide hydration. I've read that alcohol can induce the body to lose more water than is gained (For example beer is 95% water). However, if you have no potable water can alcoholic beverage substitute for water ? Does it depend on the percentage...- Rolliet

Death of an Organism: Event or Series of Events?
It is cells that die, which lead to the death of the organism. Obviously, in complex organisms, which cells die, and how many determine the fate of the organism. The topic of death is also a philosophical one. Consider "grafting", where trees have their limbs removed and grafted onto other...- Rolliet

Difference between volt and current
In regards to the original question I'd think that the "Hydraulic Analogy" is helpful in understand the relationships between volts/current/resistance.- Rolliet

How does Hay differ from fresh cut grasses
My question is what are the physical changes (apart from losing water) that occur as fresh grass becomes hay.- Rolliet

How does Hay differ from fresh cut grasses
If you have an animal, such as a Horse or rabbit which feeds on Hay, what (if any) nutritional difference is there between "Hay" and "fresh grass". Obviously, Hay is grass that has been sun dried to make it more storable. Are there chemical or protein changes that occur to grass that has been...- Rolliet

Hydraulic Analogy for Counter-EMF ?
I'm trying to get my mind around counter-emf. Is there a good analogy for counter EMF in either hydrology or mechanical examples ? I've read the textbook descriptions. Likewise, I wonder if there are analogies for the phenomenon of Hysteresis.- Rolliet

Credit card Magnetic strip and the plastic bag trick
When my credit card magnetic strip is worn it won't scan at the grocery check out. The clerk then uses a plastic bag over the card and runs it through the scanner. I'm baffled why this should work, but it does every time. Any explanations ? Thanks- Rolliet
