    So is the request that I avoid the subject a special rule crafted just for me, or are you going to adjust your general rules to reflect your actual policy?

    The rules have been working fine for a while now, so they probably don't need adjusting. I saw your Profile post and wanted to give you the heads up so you don't have to go through the experience of getting a gentle warning with post deletion if you tried to start such a discussion. We don't usually have much of a problem with such posts, probably only one every month or two at most.
