Cube root long division method
On the right paragraph it says "The trial divisor 1200 goes into the dividend 13952, 8 times" Clearly 1200 goes into 13952, 11 times. I don't understand why 8 is (arbitrarily?) chosen. Please help. Thanks.- xzibition8612

Battery specifications question
i see. So the original 2600 mah is the actual capacity, and the "C" is the maximum amount of charge you can get from the battery, provided it still is limited by that original 2600 mah limit.- xzibition8612

Battery specifications question
A battery is rated as follows: 2600 mah 12 V 5C My question is what does each of these values mean? 2600 mah is the "capacity" of the battery. To my understanding this means you can draw 2600 ma current from this battery for exactly one hour; after one hour the battery is dead. Or you can...- xzibition8612

Total enthelpy concept question
Homework Statement Total enthalpy is defined such that: h+(V^2)/2 = constant ... (1) h0 is the stagnation enthalpy. Stagnation means V=0. Plug this V into the above, get h=h0. Hence h+(V^2)/2 = h0 ... (2) My question is we already defined V=0, so how could there still be a V^2/2 term in...- xzibition8612

Beam deflection boundary condition calculation
the slope, y/x. Why would dv/dx=0 at x=L/2? That makes no physical sense, because at x=L/2 there is a load P upward and it must deflect. Hence dv/dx can't be 0.- xzibition8612

Beam deflection boundary condition calculation
ok, so what is the slope physically mean? Why is it 0 at x=L/2? It has something to do with the load P? I see that the derivative of moment is shear force, and the derivative of shear force is distributed force. But that has nothing to do with deflection right?- xzibition8612

Beam deflection boundary condition calculation
Homework Statement Find the deflection at x=L/4 and x=L/2 for the beam Homework Equations See attached pic. The Attempt at a Solution So I have the solution derived in class. Only 0<x<L/2 is derived because since the load on the beam is at L/2, the equation is valid for the...- xzibition8612
