Is the lift now able to handle the 2.6 tons RR sport?

It’s better, thanks. You can’t lift halfway, then start again to go higher; the car must be lowered before raising again, to allow the motor a more gradual start. But we did manage to lift it high enough to swap the transfer box, walking underneath comfortably. In fact, this is as high as it will go before hitting the gussets I added to the roof trusses, having cut out the centres.

There’s little point in spending much more effort and time on catering for this old (2007) car. The engine, a Ford Tdv6, could fail tomorrow. It generates nearly 600 Nm of torque and puts this through a tiny crankshft, with half the oil available to the inner mains as outers. Added to this, some think, the thin oil (5w-30) is specified with a few extra mpg in mind, rather than longevity. Snapped cranks are the result, something which happened to his last car.
