Thank you for consuming much of my morning by not using your usual seed word and throwing me into my 'can I solve this problem?' mode.

I'm fairly certain that I would have another TIA* if I actually tried to solve this.

The narrowest I could get the guesses down to was on #3, where I came up with SQUAT, SPURT, and SHUNT

*TIA: Transient Ischemic Attack = A minor stoke, causing minimal brain damage.
"Bliminal Drain Tramage". But yeah ouch.

I have absolutely no idea why I guessed DICOT first. Maybe because I thought C was more probable than V. But in retrospect it was pretty stupid. Especially as I don't know what a DICOT is! :woot:

EDIT: OK. Esoteric: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dicots

On the other hand, my game play is almost fully automated, based on simpleton logic, and guess #3 wasn't chosen by me, but by my current algorithm.

Is this an indication that AI may be have been employed to moderate the game?

Cue the twilight zone music!

Oh, I meant my own guess, not yours. I should have put that line last.

EDIT: If you look at the spoiler you'll understand. :)

Not really. My style of play almost guarantees that I get a bad score with such a word. E and T are both high value letters and I eliminate lesser values first.

That game was a perfect example of my strategy.

Wordle 1,805 3/6*
⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ SWIFT has a letter score of 3068
⬛⬛⬛⬛⬛ HOKUM has a letter score of 2790
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 CLANG, the solution, had the worst letter score of remaining eligible words.
note: While SWIFT may seem to violate the 'E and T' rule, W and F are the two worst ranked significant letters and really dragged down the words letter score.

Examples of best and worst letter scores:

ORATE ranked #1 with a score of 5681

1564
1230
1085
951
851
e
a
r
o
t

MAMMA ranked last with a score of 598.1

1230
426
a
m

While you might think I've cheated MAMMA in some way, as her letter scores add up to:
3*426 + 2*1230 = 3738
I include a reduction factor for words with less than 5 unique letters.
MAMMA is the only word with just 2 letters and gets a uniqueness value of 0.4
Which I square and multiply by the raw score: 0.16 * 3738 = 598.08
