This discussion serves as a comprehensive resource for astronomy and cosmology, featuring links to significant academic papers and articles. Key contributions include Charles Bennett's WMAP observations, which provide critical cosmological parameters, and insights into dark matter and neutrino astronomy. The discussion emphasizes the importance of the Omega parameter in determining the universe's topology and includes various tools for further exploration, such as cosmology calculators and educational resources. Notable links include articles by Michael Turner and Wendy Freedman, as well as resources for understanding cosmic rays and gravitational phenomena.
PREREQUISITESAstronomy enthusiasts, astrophysicists, and researchers in cosmology seeking to deepen their understanding of the universe's structure and the fundamental forces at play.

Even if Omega was precisely equal to one, you could still have a finite universe: in this case, its topology would have to be multiply-connected. For example, a 3-torus, a kind of 3-dimensional version of the surface of a doughnut, is flat everywhere, but its volume is finite. General relativity (and hence the standard big bang model) has nothing to say about topology. Perhaps this is a limitation, perhaps not. Anyway, here are some articles on the subject of cosmic topology:

Topology of the Universe: Theory and Observations by Jean-Pierre Luminet and Boudewijn F. Roukema
