Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around the concept of gravity and its long-term effects on planetary orbits. The original poster questions the possibility of gravity failing and leading to planets colliding, expressing skepticism about the feasibility of such a scenario.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants explore the idea of gravity potentially failing and question the assumptions behind such a claim. There are inquiries about credible sources that support or refute this notion.

Discussion Status

The discussion includes skepticism towards the idea of gravity failing, with some participants dismissing the concept as unfounded. There is a request for credible resources to clarify the topic, indicating an ongoing exploration of the subject.

Contextual Notes

Participants express uncertainty about the validity of the original claim regarding gravity and its implications for planetary motion, highlighting a lack of consensus on the topic.

I remember reading something similar to this somewhere but now I can't remember. Is it true that eventually gravity fails and the planets will fall out of their orbit and collide...or something like that? I find that kind of hard to believe because for that to happen wouldn't it mean that we would need the energy to be zero and that's highly unlikely to happen? Anyways, thanks in advance. Oh and if anybody knows of any credible websites that have to do with this, please do post them. Thanks

I have never heard of anything like that. Any website that sites gravity will one day fail are best to be ignored.

Nope, that's baloney.

Okie great. Does anybody know of any sites that state it's not true?

Every site in existence about gravity.

Ummm ok

Thanks lol

The big crunch?

Although that doesn't necessitate failure of natural laws. Although I would imagine it would not be very "good" for the planets.
