Air flow changes in a pipe with the change in gas temp?

SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on the impact of temperature changes on the flow rate of air and non-condensable gases in a nuclear reactor's condenser system. At a steady state value flow rate of 30 SCFM at 77°F, the flow rate must be recalculated for a temperature of 15°F. The mass flow rate remains constant, while the volumetric flow rate is affected by changes in gas density, which is a function of temperature.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mass flow rate and volumetric flow rate
  • Knowledge of gas density as a function of temperature
  • Familiarity with SCFM (Standard Cubic Feet per Minute) measurements
  • Basic principles of thermodynamics related to gas behavior
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the relationship between gas density and temperature for air
  • Learn how to calculate volumetric flow rate changes with temperature variations
  • Explore the principles of gas flow in nuclear reactor systems
  • Study the effects of temperature on gas properties in engineering applications
USEFUL FOR

Engineers and technicians working in nuclear reactor operations, HVAC professionals, and anyone involved in gas flow management and thermodynamic analysis.

nuclear reactor question

air and non condensible gasses being removed from the condenser and processed through a treatment skid through a pipe.

steady state value flow rate at 77 deg f is 30 scfm

fixed the refer vault and now the temp is 15 deg for the gas.

what will be the flow rate at 15 deg f?

thanks...and this is not home work but real work...

mass flow rate remains same. volumetric flow rate changes.

Mass flow rate = density*volumetric flow rate

density = f(Temperature)
