ANSYS APDL/Workbench Optimisation

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The discussion centers on optimizing the mass and volume of a bike frame using ANSYS APDL for university coursework. The user expresses proficiency in ANSYS Workbench but is required to utilize APDL for the analysis. They seek tutorials on model optimization in APDL and inquire about importing models from APDL to Workbench. Another user confirms they share the same optimization challenge in APDL.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of ANSYS APDL syntax and commands
  • Familiarity with structural optimization techniques
  • Knowledge of cylindrical tubing properties and cross-sectional area calculations
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench for comparative analysis
NEXT STEPS
  • Research tutorials on "ANSYS APDL optimization techniques"
  • Explore "Importing models from ANSYS APDL to Workbench"
  • Learn about "Structural optimization methods in ANSYS"
  • Investigate "Cylindrical tubing analysis in ANSYS APDL"
USEFUL FOR

Students and engineers involved in structural analysis, particularly those working with ANSYS APDL and seeking to optimize designs in mechanical applications.

I have a university coursework where I have to optimise the mass/volume of a bike frame using the cross-sectional area & tube thickness of the cylindrical tubing. I'm fairly competent in doing this process in ANSYS workbench (at least I'd like to think I am!).
If I had the choice, I would use workbench for this analysis but I'm required to use APDL for the coursework. If there is a tutorial for how to optimise a model in APDL, it would be much appreciated if someone could send it my way! Otherwise, is there some way I can import a model (geometry, loads, boundary conditions, results etc) from APDL to workbench?
