I am trying to run a simulation (transient analysis) in ANSYS Workbench of a rolling tire on a flexible pavement surface. The tire is a truck tire with pressure of 0.7 MPa.

I defined various outputs at consequential small time steps, and I can see the tire gradually inflating until (what seems like) it fails structurally.

However, when I suppress the (linear and rotational) velocities of the tire and leave only the tire pressure and the vertical load on the tire (1/4 of vehicle weight), there is no visible inflation (or structural failure) and no visible deflection of the tire under the vertical load.

This doesn't make sense...
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be?

Thank you!

What do you mean by "inflating" in this context?
