Mate Choice and the Origin of Menopause
The discussion revolves around the concept of menopause in women and its potential connection to male influence, as well as broader societal perceptions of gender roles as depicted in media. The scope includes theoretical interpretations, humorous takes, and anecdotal observations regarding gender dynamics and menopause.
Participants generally agree that the thread is intended to be humorous, but multiple competing views remain regarding the implications of gender roles and the nature of menopause. The discussion does not reach a consensus on the seriousness of the claims made.
Some claims rely on anecdotal evidence and personal interpretations of media portrayals, which may not reflect broader societal trends. Additionally, the understanding of the study mentioned is based on individual readings and interpretations, leading to potential inaccuracies.

From a anecdotal stand point at least , the smartest women I've met are completely different from the "super-women CEO-type" they are presenting in those commercials.
I've noticed this trend. There was a time when women were depicted as silly and dependent on the wisdom of men to make the right decisions, but the pendulum has swung, slowly, to the opposite meme.Borg said:All you have to do is watch TV commercials to know that all men are idiots and that women are the smartest and wisest creatures to walk the surface of the earth.

I really can't remember the last time that I saw a man who was depicted as smarter or wiser than a woman in a commercial. I think that it due to the fact that men aren't represented by rights groups that protest over every perceived insult. Hence, you'll never see this ad on TV...zoobyshoe said:I've noticed this trend.
