Are You Creative? Test Your Creativity on TestMyCreativity.com

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the validity and design of an online creativity test found at testmycreativity.com. Participants express skepticism about the test's accuracy, with scores ranging from just below average to high, indicating varied perceptions of their own creativity. Concerns are raised about the lack of methodological support and credentials from the test's creators, a consulting firm linked to corporate creativity. Comparisons are made to more reputable psychological tests, such as the Implicit Association Test (IAT), which are backed by established methodologies and research. Meh, just short of 60, didn't think I was that unimaginative,

I got 63.79, which is only very slightly above "normal."

55.08

I've never felt like a creative individual.

76.10, but didn't answer the last question at all.

Below 60.

I think it's a poorly designed test and the results will have doubtful validity at best.

If you go to the parent web site, http://www.aulive.com, they are apparently consultants for corporations in the area of creativity. Note that they don't provide any credentials for themselves, nor any justification for the "creativity" test in terms of methodology or anything else; nor for the other "tests" or tools they offer to corporations. My guess is, they may have ripped off someone else's methodology and implemented it in a half-assed fashion - at best.

By contrast, if you take a genuinely worthwhile psychological online test of any sort, it will be supported by a methodology, the results will be shared, etc. A good example is the IAT, or Implicit Association Test. Here is a list of applications for the IAT: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/selectatest.html And here is some info about the sponsoring organization: https://www.projectimplicit.net/index.html And here is the methodology: https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/iatdetails.html

Back to creativity - here too we can find tests that have an actual methodology behind them. Here's an article from HuffPost with an example - a very short word-association test: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/11/05/creativity-quiz_n_4192687.html It's based on a study described in this press release: http://msutoday.msu.edu/news/2013/what-makes-creativity-tick/ And here's the study itself: http://scottbarrykaufman.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/prabhakaran_2013_brm.pdf

Yes I am .

82. something, I'm not even trying to venture a guess on how all of it is used to "measure" my creativeness.

Weird test. They give you pictures and let you write whatEver you see. Well, obviously there is Superman in one of the pictures kicking back in the lazy chair and having a strawberry smoothie. How can you not see it??!
