Homework Statement


There was a question about ##BeCl_2## and ##BeH_2## which had a statement :
" Both have similar structure but different bonding. "
Which was marked correct.

Homework Equations

The Attempt at a Solution


The problem I am facing is that in the solution dotted lines are given between the B-H bond and solid arrows (##\longrightarrow##) for the B-Cl bond. So do those represent a hydrogen bond and a coordinate bond respectively?

First hydrogen bond is for some specific atoms. What are those ?

It doesn't form hydrogen bonds... so is it a covalent one?

Both BeCl2 and BeH2 are covalently bonded.
The main difference is one exists as a polymer.
The atom having lone pair can form dative or coordination bonds.
