Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around resources and references for a study on measuring the thermal signature of a city and its surrounding landscape using satellite technology. The focus is on identifying relevant literature and online resources related to remote sensing and thermal imaging.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Resource sharing

Main Points Raised

  • One participant requests recommendations for books and resources on measuring thermal signatures with satellites.
  • Another participant suggests the USGS web page on IR satellite imaging projects as a useful starting point for further research.
  • Additional links to NASA resources are provided, including information on Earth temperature measurement via satellite and details about the Landsat Thermal Infrared Sensor.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the usefulness of the suggested online resources, but there is no consensus on specific books or comprehensive literature as none were provided in the responses.

Contextual Notes

The discussion lacks specific titles of books or detailed literature recommendations, which may limit the depth of resources available for the study.

Greetings everybody.

I have been tasked with doing an small (12 pages) study about measuring the thermal signatureof a city and the surrounding landscape with a satellite.
I'm afraid I haven't touched the subject very deeply, and I would thank anybody who would point me to some books which cover the subject.

Thank you very much.

One resource that looks pretty good is the USGS web page with links to IR satellite imaging projects:

https://eros.usgs.gov/satellite-imagery

You may be able to use that as a stepping-off point for finding more information. Also, a Google Images search on thermal satellite images gives some pretty neat examples of what is being done...
