SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on recommendations for beginner-friendly physics workbooks that include problems and solutions. Participants emphasize the importance of selecting books from reputable publishers such as McGraw-Hill, John Wiley, and Cengage Learning. While Schaum's Outline is frequently suggested, some users express dissatisfaction with it and seek alternatives. Concerns are raised regarding Irodov's classic due to its lack of fully solved problems.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of physics concepts
  • Familiarity with calculus-based physics
  • Knowledge of major educational publishers in the field
  • Ability to evaluate educational materials for quality
NEXT STEPS
  • Research McGraw-Hill's "Concepts of Physics" by H.C. Verma
  • Explore John Wiley's "Fundamentals of Physics" by Halliday, Resnick, and Walker
  • Investigate Cengage Learning's "Physics for Scientists and Engineers" by Serway and Jewett
  • Look into alternative problem-solving resources beyond Schaum's Outline
USEFUL FOR

If calculus based physics. One of the books that is frequently recommended is Schaums Outline https://www.amazon.com/dp/0071763465/?tag=pfamazon01-20.

However, it is not from a famous publisher... Just be aware that, just because a book is published by one of the major book publishers, it does not mean its a quality material...

I don't like schaums series, is there any another book?

What's wrong with Irodov's classic? The fact that it doesn't have fully solved problems?

i am self learning physics. have you ever worked your way backwards again after finishing most undergrad courses? i have textbooks for junior/senior physics courses in classical mechanics, electrodynamics, thermal physics, quantum mechanics, and mathematical methods for self learning. i have the Halliday Resnick sophomore book. working backwards, i checked out Conceptual Physics 11th edition by Hewitt and found this book very helpful. What i liked most was how stimulating the pictures...
