SUMMARY

The discussion focuses on calculating the angular velocity and the force exerted on a table by a rotating mass. For part (a), the angular velocity is determined using the formula w^=g/h, yielding a value of 3.61 rad/s for a mass rotating 0.75 m below the attachment point. In part (b), the force on the table is to be calculated for a 6 kg mass rotating at 25 rpm. The calculations for part (b) were not fully provided in the discussion.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of angular velocity and its calculation
  • Knowledge of centripetal force concepts
  • Familiarity with rotational motion equations
  • Basic grasp of unit conversions (rpm to rad/s)
NEXT STEPS
  • Learn about centripetal force calculations for rotating bodies
  • Study the conversion of rotational speed from rpm to rad/s
  • Explore the relationship between mass, radius, and force in circular motion
  • Review examples of angular velocity in practical applications
USEFUL FOR

Physics students, mechanical engineers, and anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of rotating systems.

Hi guys. I need some help to solve this question.

(a) A body of mass m kg is attached to a point by string of length
1.25 m. If the mass is rotating in a horizontal circle 0.75 m below the
point of attachment, calculate its angular velocity.

(b) If the mass rotates on a table, calculate the force on the table when
the speed of rotation is 25 rpm and the mass is 6 kg.

Hi bahramm,

Show us what you've done.

I got w^=g/h w=3.61 so far correct?

Yes that's the answer for part a.

cool. any idea about part b?
