AI Thread Summary
The frequency of light can be changed, specifically through the Doppler effect, where light emitted from a moving source experiences a shift in frequency due to changes in wavelength, while the speed of light remains constant. Energy conservation is a key principle, indicating that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed. Cohesive and adhesive forces could theoretically generate energy if energy is applied to the system, but this would require harnessing potential energy without increasing entropy. Ultimately, attempting to utilize this energy would hinder the system's expansion, leading to the conclusion that it is not feasible. Thus, while frequency changes are possible, generating energy from cohesive and adhesive forces is not practical.

can cohesive and adhesive forces be used to generate energy?
If yes then how if no then why?

Yes (wavelength changes), the speed, however, remains constant. If say you were traveling in a vessel going c/2 and began emitting a ray of light the light would have it's frequency changed or blue shifted. This is because energy is conserved throughout the universe and since the photon cannot exceed the speed of light, it's wavelength changes, resulting in a higher frequency (Doppler effect).

to Your second question, yes but only if energy is applied to the system. Again, energy is conserved in both its "stored" state (matter) and "active" state (energy, electromagnetic radiation) and can neither be created or destroyed. So if energy was stored as potential kinetic energy in the cohesive and adhesive forces then maybe. but at that attempting to harness this energy would serve to decrease the entropy of the system an therefore halt whatever liquid from spanning more of the universe. so in all entirety no.

I would like to use a pentaprism with some amount of magnification. The pentaprism will be used to reflect a real image at 90 degrees angle but I also want the reflected image to appear larger. The distance between the prism and the real image is about 70cm. The pentaprism has two reflecting sides (surfaces) with mirrored coating and two refracting sides. I understand that one of the four sides needs to be curved (spherical curvature) to achieve the magnification effect. But which of the...
