SUMMARY

Upgrading from a bike radiator to a car radiator in a project formula car can lead to several issues. The primary concern is that a larger radiator may prevent the coolant from reaching the optimal temperature range for the engine, potentially affecting performance. Additionally, a radiator that is excessively large could occupy valuable space needed for other components. Participants in the discussion emphasize the importance of conducting calculations and preparing reports to support the upgrade decision.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of thermal dynamics in automotive cooling systems
  • Familiarity with radiator sizing and performance metrics
  • Knowledge of coolant temperature ranges for specific engines
  • Basic skills in engineering report writing and calculations
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the thermal dynamics of automotive cooling systems
  • Learn how to calculate optimal radiator size for specific engine types
  • Investigate the impact of coolant temperature on engine performance
  • Explore engineering report writing techniques for project submissions
USEFUL FOR

Automotive engineering students, project formula car teams, and anyone involved in optimizing vehicle cooling systems.

I want to upgrade my radiator to a bigger one in my project formula car, with the same engine and pump, what are the cons of it.
Probably going to upgrade from a bike radiator to a car radiator.
Also please help with calculations and reports.

What reports? Is this for schoolwork?

No sir, this is not for school work, the reports consists of basic information and calculation of the radiator, these reports are submitted to the committee of judges of the student formula ,in which I am takin part in.

It is still school work. We need you to show your own attempt at answering the question. We help, but we do not do your work for you.

The main downside I see is that a too large radiator might prevent the coolant getting to the proper temperature range for the engine. Also, if the radiator is larger than really needed, it could take up space that might be better used for some other component.

We will help you do the calculations, but we won't do them for you -- that's not our job.
