Can You Extend the Range of a Proximity RFID Tag?

Hey guys...not sure if this is possible but is there a way to extend the range of a proximity RFID Tag. I'm looking for a way to broadcast the tag information so i don't have to walk up to the reader with a proximity tag. I'm trying to find a way to open my apartment gate by driving up to it instead of rolling down the window and scanning it. Any ideas?
