Chemical Vapor Deposition - Diamond

SUMMARY

Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) is a viable method for creating diamond optics, although the cost of CVD diamond wafers is prohibitively high. Constructing a plasma chamber for CVD is feasible, but maintaining the correct pressure is critical to ensure the formation of diamond rather than graphite. Resources such as phase diagrams are essential for understanding the conditions necessary for successful diamond synthesis. Instructional videos and texts on this topic are sought after by enthusiasts and researchers alike.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) techniques
  • Familiarity with plasma chamber construction
  • Knowledge of phase diagrams and material properties
  • Basic principles of diamond synthesis and carbon allotropes
NEXT STEPS
  • Research instructional videos on CVD diamond optics fabrication
  • Explore designs and specifications for plasma chambers suitable for CVD
  • Study phase diagrams relevant to diamond and graphite formation
  • Investigate alternative methods for diamond synthesis and their cost-effectiveness
USEFUL FOR

Researchers, materials scientists, and hobbyists interested in diamond synthesis, particularly those looking to create CVD diamond optics or build their own plasma chambers.

Are there any instructional video's on how to make your own CVD Diamond optics. I was looking online and CVD Diamond wafers are EXTREMELY expensive.

Is it possible to make a plasma chamber for CVD if so does anyone have any good text recommendations

What is the catch
