SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the comparison between Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in engineering. Participants highlight that BEng graduates may have a competitive edge in employability compared to BSc graduates, primarily due to the rigorous curriculum and higher entry requirements associated with BEng programs. However, some individuals prefer the BSc due to its less mathematical focus and more engaging modules. The conversation also notes that in Canada, institutions may offer different titles for similar programs, such as Bachelor of Applied Science versus Bachelor of Engineering.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of engineering degree classifications (BEng vs. BSc)
  • Familiarity with university admission requirements for engineering programs
  • Knowledge of the curriculum differences between BEng and BSc degrees
  • Awareness of employment trends in engineering fields
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the specific curriculum of BEng and BSc programs at various universities
  • Investigate employment statistics for BEng versus BSc graduates in engineering
  • Explore the differences in skill sets acquired through BEng and BSc degrees
  • Examine industry perceptions of BEng and BSc qualifications in engineering roles
USEFUL FOR

Hey

Having a little debate if i should change my degree classification?

Are people with a BEng more employable that BSc engineers?

Reason i ask, is that the modules on BSc are more interesting, and less mathmatical, but the entry requirements are less, and they almost offer it as a concelation prize if you don't get on BEng.

Need some help here, as i don't want to make the wrong choice.

Thanks.

I think they are the same. Well in Canada, some school offers Bachelor of Applied Science while another school offers Bachelor of Engineering.
