SUMMARY

This discussion focuses on specific circuit element recommendations, including a differential op-amp capable of sourcing sufficient current to activate a BJT and LED while outputting near ±5V. Participants suggest looking for BJTs that can handle up to 2V and LEDs with a breakdown voltage exceeding 5V. Additionally, a PNP transistor that operates with less than a 5V difference and can withstand high voltages is sought. Relevant datasheets from ON Semiconductor and LED specifications are provided for further reference.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of differential operational amplifiers
  • Knowledge of BJT specifications and ratings
  • Familiarity with LED breakdown voltages
  • Awareness of PNP transistor characteristics
NEXT STEPS
  • Research differential op-amps such as the LM358 or TLV2371
  • Investigate BJTs like the 2N3904 or BC547 for low voltage applications
  • Explore high-voltage LED options from manufacturers like Cree or Osram
  • Examine PNP transistors such as the 2N2907 for high voltage tolerance
USEFUL FOR

Electronics engineers, circuit designers, and hobbyists seeking to select appropriate components for circuit designs involving operational amplifiers, BJTs, LEDs, and PNP transistors.

Could someone please recommend part values for the following components, or tell me if they do not exist:
1. differential op-amp that can source enough current to turn on a BJT and an LED, and also outputs a voltage near the +-5V inputs
2. a BJT that can withstand up to 2V across it
3. An LED with a breakdown voltage of greater than 5V
4. An PNP Transistor that can withstand very large voltages but turns on with below 5V difference.
5. The connectors that you see on a voltmeter to plug the testing leads into.
Thank you for any help you can be.
