SUMMARY

Civil engineering requires a strong foundation in mathematics and physics, with an emphasis on advanced math classes during high school. Students should also take chemistry to complement their understanding of engineering principles. A commitment to hard work and a focus on understanding concepts are essential for success in college-level civil engineering programs.

PREREQUISITES
  • Advanced mathematics knowledge, including calculus and algebra
  • Understanding of physics principles relevant to engineering
  • Basic chemistry knowledge
  • Strong problem-solving skills
NEXT STEPS
  • Research college civil engineering programs and their prerequisites
  • Explore advanced mathematics courses available in high school
  • Study physics applications in engineering contexts
  • Learn about the role of chemistry in material science for civil engineering
USEFUL FOR

High school students interested in pursuing a career in civil engineering, educators advising students on course selections, and anyone seeking to understand the foundational skills required for engineering disciplines.

Take as many math classes as you can in high school. Take chemistry and physics as well. do that, understand what you're doing, go to college, work hard, and you'll be fine.
