SUMMARY

0.05 cm-1 is definitively equivalent to 5 m-1. The conversion is based on the relationship between centimeters and meters, where 1 cm equals 0.01 m. Therefore, 0.05 cm-1 can be mathematically expressed as 5/100 cm-1, which simplifies to 5 m-1. It is crucial to use proper notation, such as cm-1 or m-1, to prevent confusion in measurements.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of unit conversion between centimeters and meters
  • Familiarity with scientific notation and dimensional analysis

mmm...why not?

I will confess that I find "cm-1" a puzzling unit! What in the world is measured that way?

However,
0.05 cm^{-1}= \frac{5}{100}\frac{1}{cm}= \frac{5}{100 cm}= \frac{5}{1 m}
Yes, 0.05 cm-1 is the same as 5 m-1

And, PLEASE, use at least cm^(-1) or m^(-1) to avoid confusion.
