Could an alien underwater life evolve into a complex life? could there be an underwater alien civilization?
The discussion centers on the potential for alien underwater life to evolve into complex civilizations. Participants agree that while intelligence may develop, the absence of fire poses significant challenges to technological advancement. The conversation highlights the possibility of alternative energy sources, such as underwater volcanic vents, which could facilitate unique evolutionary paths. Ultimately, the consensus suggests that while traditional civilization as we know it may not arise, alternative forms of social structures could exist in such environments.
PREREQUISITESThis discussion is beneficial for astrobiologists, evolutionary biologists, and anyone interested in the potential for extraterrestrial life and its implications for civilization development.

Entropy said:Yeah, without fire it seems unlikely a civilization could arise. Intelligence could exist, but probably not a civilization. Unless you can think of a way to build a rocket from scratch underwater.
Gold Barz said:Without fire, that would surely slow them down
Paul Wilson said:They do know more about the rest of the universe than what they know in our own waters. Fact.
Paul Wilson said:You have a far fetched sounding theorey, but a smart one. An alien is an alien, and its technologies are alien to ours. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm quite ready to accept that our world isn't that significant (technologically - It's just not possible with all the other galaxies out there, that we are the only life forms with the only technology) And if aliens do exist, according to those *not fake* videos, their technology is so far beyond ours, we don't even have an idea on how their technology works in the slightest.
