I got a 2.7 +/- in a class this quarter...given that a large portion of the class was taking it for the second or third time, I was pretty happy just to pass on the first try. Horribly designed class, but required to graduate.

Grading in university is way too unpredictable.

in all seriousness, i may or may not have failed a course this term sasaaasdf

As a grad student I got "B-" in Real Analysis, when many of the undergrad hordes (90% of the class) passed with A's.

In my Ph.D. thesis, I actually used a theorem from the real analysis class to prove existence of a solution to a boundary value (Diff Eq) problem.

After I graduated, I published part of my thesis (along with the proof) in a peer-reviewed top journal in my field.

The moral of the story is, I guess, "it all depends on why you are in school in the first place."

Thanks for the laugh, Cyrus.

I can't believe this thread..
I just got some of my grades back, C+ in Real Analysis (I was not one of the undergrad horde getting an A in the class, I think there were 2 A's in the class of around 30)
Guess I should transfer to School of Business then, right?

A B+ is no where near a bad grade Ice. Your overreacting a little bit.

I failed a finals course. It was in another faculty and I wasn't used to their exam format, it also clashed with some of my core lectures.
Ironicaly it was in image processing, which was a major part of my Phd and what I have worked as an expert in for most of my career.

It's really the only option left.

Heh, I've got all of you beat. I just found out yesterday that I got a B- in my astronomy class, which sucks, since I'm a graduate student. Of course I'm not too upset, since my other two classes turned out fine. I'd say that getting a 3.47 GPA my first semester of grad school isn't too shabby.
