what is the difference between cyclic paraffin and paraffin?

One is cyclic and the other is non-cyclic.
 
Cyclic Paraffins are commonly referred to as naphthenes (note: NOT naphthalene), and aren't very common I believe.

Paraffins are, just like chemisttree said, non-cyclic.

Cyclic paraffins may include methylcyclopentane, cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane. dimethylcyclohexane.

And, well, paraffins are just alkanes with the formula C_{n}H_{2n+2},
that includes tons of hydrocarbons, methane, octane, etc.
