Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around a student's inquiry about their chances of being accepted into computer engineering or computer science programs at the University of Waterloo or the University of Toronto, based on their current and projected academic performance and extracurricular activities. The scope includes concerns about academic qualifications, program requirements, and personal experiences related to university admissions in Canada.

Discussion Character

  • Debate/contested
  • Conceptual clarification
  • Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • The original poster shares their current and projected grades, along with details of their extracurricular activities, seeking feedback on their chances of acceptance.
  • Some participants express confidence that the original poster's grades are sufficient for acceptance into Canadian universities.

Contextual Notes

The discussion reflects uncertainty regarding the impact of specific grades and extracurricular activities on admissions decisions, as well as the subjective nature of university acceptance criteria.

Who May Find This Useful

Students considering applications to Canadian universities, particularly in STEM fields, and those interested in understanding the admissions process and factors influencing acceptance.

lol so, i want to either apply for computer eng. or computer sci. at either waterloo or toronto

einfo states
waterloo com eng. - mid 80's
waterloo com sci. - mid 80's

toronto com eng. - low 80's
toronto com sci. - mid-hi 70's <=== lol...really?

so any opinions on if i have a shot at any of the above 4 choices? =[

Physics news on Phys.org
HAHAH with those marks u can get into anything in CANADA

i hope so. do you reside in Canada? because an 80 in Canada is a total different story then other countires. from what i seen, some people have not rejected or accepted with conditions with grades similar to mine.

I go to U of T. You'll be fine.

For which program? sci or eng? or both?

Math specialist.

Math specialist.

what type of program is that under? coulnt find it on einfo

It should be under Physical and Mathematical sciences. It's in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

I think you are worrying too much. If you get the grade 12 marks you are hoping for (which I'm sure you will - you have a good track record) then you should get into U of T and Waterloo. If you really want to make sure, try getting a couple letters of recommendation from a science or math teacher. That's what I did and I'm sure it helped somewhat.

alright thanks for the replies, imma try to stop stressing too much about it
