Dow Molykote 3402C: What is the Friction Factor (K)?

Click For Summary
SUMMARY

The friction factor (K) for Dow's Molykote 3402C anti-friction coating is not explicitly listed in the available documentation, including the product datasheet from Dow. Users have reported difficulty in finding definitive values for both the K factor and the coefficient of friction (mu) in Dow's literature. A suggested resource for further information is the PDF datasheet available on the Ellsworth website, although it may not contain the specific data sought. Inquiries have been made directly to Dow for clarification on these values.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of friction factors in lubrication technology
  • Familiarity with anti-friction coatings
  • Ability to interpret technical datasheets
  • Basic knowledge of coefficient of friction (mu)
NEXT STEPS
  • Review the PDF datasheet for Dow's Molykote 3402C on Ellsworth's website
  • Contact Dow for specific inquiries regarding the K factor and coefficient of friction
  • Research general principles of friction factors in lubrication applications
  • Explore other anti-friction coatings and their specifications
USEFUL FOR

Engineers, lubrication specialists, and product developers seeking detailed information on anti-friction coatings and their performance metrics.

The first hit on the Google search list seems to give those numbers...

I cannot find it...

Google search on Molykote 3402C

First hit on the list is for ellesworth.com

Click into that, scroll down and open the PDF datasheet document for the product from Dow...

Well, I hate being an idiot but I have been there and those brochures and things shown do not list a "K" factor that I can find. I did not even find a definitive mu (coeff of friction) in any of Dow's literature. I have asked Dow and am waiting to hear from them but thought I'd ask here also...

thanks

Is this the kind of thing you are looking for? Or were you looking for something different?
