AI Thread Summary
Fedora can be downloaded for free from various sources, including official mirrors listed on the Fedora website. Users have reported issues with verifying downloads, particularly with MD5 checks, which can be challenging for those unfamiliar with the process. Linux is generally considered more secure than Windows, despite some perceptions that its free nature makes it less secure. While many software companies do not develop applications for Linux, there are numerous free alternatives available, and tools like Wine can help run Windows applications on Linux. For verification of downloaded files, resources like LinuxISO provide guidance on checking ISO integrity.

Do you know where i can download fedora for free ? I downloaded a lot of unix-based free software and recorded them in a lot of cd's but finally i can't use any of them because my system says my software are 'cracks',not-yet-incompletely-downloaded ones.
I use windows and I don't know how to md5 check to test if what I have downloaded is operatable. Is there any other way around helping me deal with this anyway ?

I also think that linux, because it is a free software, should be more insecure than windows ? It is just like a browser that, if not updated on time, leaves a security hole for those who created or understand it well to get all of information on user's computer ?

Thanks

Linux is much more secure than windows. The only issue with linux is that most software companies do not make software for it; however, there are a large number of free alternatives for software, and there are programs that run some of the popular windows programs (wine, crossover office).

You can download fedora core from playboy.com: http://mirrors.playboy.com/

Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
