AI Thread Summary
MathJax typically defaults to the Computer Modern font if the STIX font is not found on the user's system. To use the STIX font, it is necessary to install the font package correctly. The user has installed the STIX fonts but still sees the default font on websites using MathJax. The issue may stem from the website's configuration, as some sites specify which fonts to use. For example, one site uses TeX as the preferred font but lists STIX as an option. To ensure STIX is used, the website must be configured to prioritize it, and users cannot force the font from their end if the site does not support it.

Hello,
Every website that I go on that has MathJax support displays math in a font that almost looks like the default Computer Modern ##\LaTeX## font. The following is taken from Math Stack Exchange:

I heard that MathJax usually looks for the STIX font located on your computer, and if it does not find it, it will instead resort to the above font. Now, I actually ##\textit{want}## to use STIX font, so I went ahead and downloaded the STIX font package on their website. I got a file with the following contents:

The docs folder only had documentation. Inside the Fonts folder was:

Capture2.PNG

And inside the OTF folder, which is supposedly what I am supposed to use (the others contained webfonts that I don't know how to open nor what to do with), there is:

Capture3.PNG

I opened each and installed the fonts seen here, and they appear as such in the control panel fonts section. However, even after restarting my computer, any website with MathJax does not use STIX fonts.
Can anyone help? Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any response.

Depends if the website that is using MathJax specifies Stix font for use in their config. On PF we set Tex as the preferred font but list Stix as available. I am unsure how to force Stix on your end.

Thread 'Urgent: Physically repair - or bypass - power button on Asus laptop'
Asus Vivobook S14 flip. The power button is wrecked. Unable to turn it on AT ALL. We can get into how and why it got wrecked later, but suffice to say a kitchen knife was involved: These buttons do want to NOT come off, not like other lappies, where they can snap in and out. And they sure don't go back on. So, in the absence of a longer-term solution that might involve a replacement, is there any way I can activate the power button, like with a paperclip or wire or something? It looks...
In my discussions elsewhere, I've noticed a lot of disagreement regarding AI. A question that comes up is, "Is AI hype?" Unfortunately, when this question is asked, the one asking, as far as I can tell, may mean one of three things which can lead to lots of confusion. I'll list them out now for clarity. 1. Can AI do everything a human can do and how close are we to that? 2. Are corporations and governments using the promise of AI to gain more power for themselves? 3. Are AI and transhumans...
