Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around a dynamics problem involving the calculation of acceleration and tension in a system of masses connected by a rope. The original poster references a specific question from their homework, indicating a desire to understand the underlying concepts rather than simply obtaining a solution.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Conceptual clarification

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants discuss the need for understanding how to approach similar problems, with some expressing a desire for tutorials rather than direct answers. There is a mention of the importance of using the homework template and making an attempt at a solution.

Discussion Status

The discussion is ongoing, with participants exploring the nature of the question and the requirements of the homework forum. There is no explicit consensus, but there is a recognition of the need for proper formatting and attempts at solutions.

Contextual Notes

Participants note that the homework forum has specific rules regarding the submission of questions and attempts, and there is a concern about the distinction between homework help and general tutoring for exam preparation.

I'll have physics midterm tomorrow. I need to learn how to solve this kind of questions.

Found this question in one of my homeworks but this is NOT a homework question. I just want to learn how to solve questions like this because I have midterm tomorrow.

This is a quibble about terminology without distinction at PF. The HW forums are intended for all HW and HW-type questions.

Question:

It asks two things.
a) acceleration of m1 and m2
b) tension of the rope between m1 and m3

This post is being moved to the Intro Physics HW forum.

If you think that is a quibble, you can give me a tutorial for this type questions instead of solving the question. Answer of that question isn't what I need.

If you do a search of the Intro Physics HW forums, you'll see this type of problem has been posted regularly.

One requirement of the HW forum is you use the HW template and make an attempt at solution. PF is not equipped to tutor you in your coursework or preparing for exams.

Sorry. Edited the topic using the HW template.
