Homework Help Overview

The discussion revolves around determining the angle that a ski cabin roof makes with the horizontal, focusing on the concept of pitch in relation to trigonometry.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Assumption checking

Approaches and Questions Raised

  • Participants express uncertainty about how to approach the problem without numerical values, with some questioning the completeness of the information provided. Others mention a specific angle derived from a worksheet but are unsure of the reasoning behind it.

Discussion Status

The conversation reflects a lack of consensus on how to proceed, with some participants suggesting that the problem may be unsolvable in its current form. There is an indication that seeking clarification from a teacher could be a next step.

Contextual Notes

Participants note the absence of numerical data necessary for solving the problem, which contributes to their uncertainty about the approach.

Homework Statement

The roof of a ski cabin has a steep pitch to help snow slide off. What angle does the roof make with the horizontal?

Homework Equations

SOH CAH TOA

The Attempt at a Solution

I don't really know where to start considering I have no numbers to play around with so, any recommendations would greatly be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the answer is 48° but that is because my worksheet is set up where it gives the answers and eventually you solve a riddle, however I don't know how I would get to it. So should I just ask my teacher tomorrow?

Probably, because the problem is unsolvable the way it is right now.
