Electromagnetic levitation Relations

AI Thread Summary
The discussion focuses on a senior project involving a kit for electromagnetic levitation, which utilizes an electromagnet and hall effect sensors for stability. The user seeks advice on how to study the relationship between various factors, such as weight changes and magnetic field strength, and how to take measurements effectively. Suggestions include measuring current with an ammeter while altering the weight of the suspended magnet and adjusting other conditions. The user also inquires about relevant equations for their experiments. The kit is available at zeltom.com, which provides additional resources and information.

Hello everyone i bought a kit for my senior project on electromagnetic levitation. It uses an electromagnet to suspend a magnet via force of attraction. It is stable because of two hall effect sensors and voltage regulator. The kit can make the magnet move in a sinusoidal and tangential motion

If i want to study this and get a relation linearly what can i do? Whats something i can do with this kit to take measurements and process data?

I've thought maybe if i change the weight of the object suspended the gap between the electromagnet and the object itself would change? But maybe that's not true because the hall effect sensor would keep it in equilibrium?

Anyways this is NOT an ad but i bought the kit from here if you need more information zeltom.com

and i can basically study an aspect of this the strength of the magnetic felid, the gap of levitation, the current supply change... anything i just need your help!

Perhaps you could measure the current used by the circuit as you use different weighted magnets or change other conditions with the pushbutton controls.

yeah i think hooking up an ammeter is my best bet thanks for that! Would you have any idea what equations i would use?
I have general magnetic field strength and electromagnet equations... if you have anything else that'd also be appreciated.

Can you give a link to the kit?

theres a components and downloads page (which includes circuit and theory information)

Thread 'Griffith, Electrodynamics, 4th Edition, Example 4.8. (Second part)'
I am reading the Griffith, Electrodynamics book, 4th edition, Example 4.8. I want to understand some issues more correctly. It's a little bit difficult to understand now. > Example 4.8. Suppose the entire region below the plane ##z=0## in Fig. 4.28 is filled with uniform linear dielectric material of susceptibility ##\chi_e##. Calculate the force on a point charge ##q## situated a distance ##d## above the origin. In the page 196, in the first paragraph, the author argues as follows ...
Thread 'Inducing EMF Through a Coil: Understanding Flux'
Thank you for reading my post. I can understand why a change in magnetic flux through a conducting surface would induce an emf, but how does this work when inducing an emf through a coil? How does the flux through the empty space between the wires have an effect on the electrons in the wire itself? In the image below is a coil with a magnetic field going through the space between the wires but not necessarily through the wires themselves. Thank you.
