The discussion revolves around evaluating dA for a specified rectangular region R defined by the limits 0 ≤ x ≤ 10ln7 and 25 ≤ y ≤ 50. Initially, there was confusion about the meaning of "Evaluate dA," with uncertainty about whether it referred to calculating the area or involved a surface function. After resolving a display issue in the browser, the user concluded that the problem likely intended to calculate the area of the rectangle using the formula A = width * height. The area is determined to be 10ln(7) * 25. The discussion highlights the importance of clear problem wording in mathematical contexts.

Homework Statement

Evaluate dA, where R is the rectangular region described in 0 ≤ x ≤ 10ln7 and 25 ≤ y ≤ 50

Homework Equations

dA = dxdy or dA = dydx

The Attempt at a Solution

I drew the rectangle on a Cartesian plane, but the problem is I don't know what the question is asking. I can set up a double integral with the limits they give me, but I don't understand how to calculate dA from any of the given information. Thanks for any clarity you can provide me.

Edit: Nevermind, it was Firefox not showing information about the question, I can solve it now that the full question is displayed.

Yeah, so the wording doesn't make any sense. "Evaluate dA" as in calculate the area of the rectangle? is there a surface f(x,y) = z or something? because if there isn't this problem seems trivial. A = 10ln(7)*25.

Question: A clock's minute hand has length 4 and its hour hand has length 3. What is the distance between the tips at the moment when it is increasing most rapidly?(Putnam Exam Question) Answer: Making assumption that both the hands moves at constant angular velocities, the answer is ## \sqrt{7} .## But don't you think this assumption is somewhat doubtful and wrong?
