The discussion centers on finding the 20th term of the sequence defined by the formula n² - 2. Participants confirm that to find the 20th term, one simply substitutes n with 20 in the equation. The calculation yields 20² - 2, resulting in 398. The consensus is that the question is straightforward and requires basic substitution. Thus, the value of the 20th term is indeed 398.

I'd just like to make sure that I understand this question:

"The nth tern of a sequence is n2 - 2. Find the value of the 20th term of the sequence."

Is the question asking me to find the value of the equation if n = 20? (In which case the answer would be 20 x 20 - 2 = 398)

Exactly, it's as simple as that
