SUMMARY

This discussion centers on the specifications and effectiveness of Constant Velocity (CV) springs in the context of powering a petrol generator. The user inquires about the size and weight of a CV spring necessary to operate a small petrol generator for four hours, emphasizing the need for a spring that can fit within a 7 to 8-inch cavity wall. Additionally, the conversation explores the fundamental principles of CV springs, including their energy storage capabilities and common misconceptions regarding their function in generating or extracting petrol.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of mechanical energy storage systems
  • Familiarity with Constant Velocity (CV) spring mechanics
  • Basic knowledge of petrol generator operation
  • Awareness of energy density and efficiency in mechanical systems
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the design and specifications of CV springs for energy storage
  • Explore the principles of mechanical energy conversion in petrol generators
  • Investigate the limitations and applications of CV springs in practical scenarios

Hi
I have a small petrol generator.
How Large/Long/Heavy would a CV spring need to be, to run it for four hours.
Ideally the spring being narrow enough to be hidden in a house cavity wall (7or8")

More generally, how effective are CV springs as energy stores
